Support Requests item #805862, was opened at 2003-09-14 07:02 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by andim2 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=543746&aid=805862&group_id=75380 Category: Install Problem (example) Group: None >Status: Closed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: error when running insmod Initial Comment: I compiled the driver but when i enter '/sbin/insmod src/acx100_pci.o' i get the following error: src/acx100_pci.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters , including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg. in syslog i have: Sep 14 05:49:44 portatilo kernel: init_module dev_info is: TI acx100_pci Sep 14 05:49:44 portatilo kernel: init_module acx100_pci: No devices found, driver not installed I have kernel 2.4.22 and a Mustek PCM-22 FCC ID:O7J- GL242201 i used a driver acx100_pci.o that i had that was in a zipfile named linux_V0903a to extract the firmware. What is wrong with me? Why doesn't it find my adapter? No ligths are on in the card before i try to load the module (don't know if any should be). my email is ber...@ne... please help me. thanks a lot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Andreas Mohr (andim2) Date: 2003-10-03 12:37 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=132674 The README states very well that you need to add a firmware_dir parameter, and of course the only reason for such a file to exist is to always be read by the user. From further comments in this support request I'm not sure if this was always the simple solution to the problem. Please reopen bug in case there is some other reason for the init failure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2003-09-18 20:31 Message: Logged In: NO I've experienced the same problem, but it solvs itself if Iput in the PC Card twice. The second time the driver finds it and it runs super! Maybe worth a try? Exactly the same thing happens by the way with the binary driver. Greetings Göran K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2003-09-17 14:29 Message: Logged In: NO I have encountered the same problem. i copied the acx100_driver to /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net/ thinking that would solve the problem, but now linux tries to initialize the module at startup and gives the same message. I have no idea how to change the IO or IRQ setting. I've switched all bios setting to "auto" but that doesn't help either. It just occurred to me that maybe changing the bios plug'nplay feature to manual might work. I'll let you know. If you figure it out please email me at ji...@co... with what you find. Thanks, Jim Collins ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2003-09-15 23:51 Message: Logged In: NO Sorry I cannot help, but I have the exact same problem with a Draytek Vigor 520 card. When entering make it will run fine except of some warnings but when I try to use insmod it tells me that there is no such device.
