Here are my results on my initial testing. I have made comments relating to relevant changes or similarities between 20020503 and 20020404. System Dell Inspiron 8100 Bios A07 Kernel 2.4.18 ACPI 20020503 - No patches applied /proc/acpi - Able to read all information without problems. CPU performance setting - Processor can be manually stepped between 800Mhz and 1.2GHz. CPU throtteling - Not supported in hardware. Battery and power information correct. Power state change - Working, previously in 20020404 switching to or from ac power would cause the machine to freeze. Interrupts - Correctly assigned, 20020404 required the pciirq patches from Dominik. Orinoco Wireless card - Working (using pcmcia-cs-1.3.22), previous failures in 20020404 were symptomatic of irq problems. Halt/Shutdown (S5) - Does not power off machine. Shutdown proceeds normally until "power down" console message where LCD stays on and system does not power down. The system will power down by holding the power button for 4s. This behaviour was the same in 20020404. S1 - Causes system to freeze, with LCD on. Pressing the power button causes the LCD to blank. System will not wake up, has to be powered off using the power button. This behaviour was the same in 20020404. USB/IEEE1394 - Not tested Lid Switch - Not tested I have not tested X windows but do not envisage any problems as this was working in 20020404. Any suggestions of how to debug S5 (shutdown) would be appreciated. Given the curent working state of the ACPI support I am considering using it in my primary kernel, getting the S5 support working would be a real bonus for this. Great work, This system at least seems to be nearly there. Cheers, Phil -- |
