Hi all, I saw in the TODO a comment about being able to make abook have a new XML file format. Personally I love the idea of XML, so I changed abook to read/write the following format: <?xml version='1.0'?> <addressbook program="abook" version="2002-02-04"> <entry id="0"> <name>John Smith</name> <email>jo...@sm...</email> <address>First Street 1</address> <city>New York</city> <phone>20935235</phone> <url>www.slashdot.org</url> </entry> </addressbook> Attached is the patch. If you are really going to use a new format for ~/.abook.addressbook, then it still needs some work to have backwards compatibility. How do you think such backwards compatibility should work for the user? Should the user just be asked whether he wants to convert his addressbook from the old to the new format? - Morten. |
