I discovered more issues with 2.5.2.7
As you say you want to stay compatible with 2.4.x the question arises
whether these issues should be handled by try / except clauses
or whether something like

if wxVERSION_STRING < "2.5":
	do this...
else:
	do that...

would more appropriate
