Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2024215 By: squig A current snapshot of the development version has been posted to http://xnap.sf.net/snapshot . Some features like OpenNap downloads are still broken nevertheless it contains all new plugins. See http://xnap.sf.net/snapshot/NOTES for details. The snapshot is meant for developers who would like to implement plugins and for users who like to stay on the bleeding edge. Think of it as a preview release for the upcoming 3.0 version. Any feedback about what you like or dislike about the snapshot (not bugreports, we know some stuff is still broken) is appreaciated. Just send email to xna...@li... or use the feedback dialog from within XNap. If you are a developer and would like to add a network/chat/viewer... plugin please talk to us through xna...@li.... A plugin howto will be made available soon (a draft can be obtained from cvs). The package is quite big, it will be split up in several jar files once the build process and JarLoader are finished. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2023900 By: leist Well, it admitedly is part of misfeature, namely that XNap creates #xnap channels on several servers while displaying them as one channel. Usually the server combobox is set to the server that the last user who wrote something came from so that possible answers are not lost. If you set the check box to sticky this automatic selection is no longer done. This stuff will be done sensibly in xnap3[1], with a real irc channel. Cheers, Yven [1]: a snapshot has just been released for those who are interested, see the news section for details. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2021499 By: aurgathor I haven't used XNap much, but firewalls can be tricky to set up properly. When everything is set up properly, it should work in the same way as if there were no firewall. You either need to open a range in the FW and forward it, and have XNap use those ports, or try to use port 0 in XNap. What kind of firewall is that? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2020224 By: nobody Ok.. so im behind a firewall. I have tried using the firewall setting and also turning it off and forwarding my ports. Either way the results are about the same. Im always getting listener timeouts or socket errors. Yesterday I was able to upload a bunch of stuff to one person. And then later in the day that person was trying to download more from me and got nothing but listener timeouts. I guess my question is if this is normal if your behind a firewall? Its frustrating when people think im not sharing when i want to. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2019851 By: nobody I've been experiencing slow downloads with xnap since I started using it (2.4pre3 or 4). I don't usually see speeds or more than a couple of Kb/s while my uploads are going at 50+kb/s. That is, until an upgrade comes out. I let xnap automatically upgrade my version and then all of a sudden my download speeds increase 10x, until I quit and restart the app - then the drop again. After the upgrade, xnap is run by the xnaploader until I restart. I am behind a firewall and I have those preferences set. Any advice would be helpful. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2018412 By: cemanuel I've noticed a number of XNap users using "XNap 2.5-pre2-cvs-JPatch" where can I download it? I have searched the XNap site but no luck in finding it. I assume the JPatch allows me to view and input Japanese characters. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2017741 By: nobody Help!!! I've accidently deleted a completely downloaded file (hit the X button in the tool bar by mistake then the downloaded file completely disappeared from my completed downloads folder). Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as it was a 700 meg file and I dont want to d/l it again. I have searched for the file by name and extension and yes, I have checked the trash as well! Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2017687 By: zappalives "But just now I saw myself go from #1 to #34 (sth i've suspected all along), " Technical question : how do you see your position in queue with xnap ? I know winmx shows you, but I wasn't aware this was possible with xnap ! P.S. : about the netiquette argument, it seems so obvious to me that the only way this thing can work is if everybody shares with no filtering except for leechers. Any other kind of censorship only destroys the spirit of the P2P philosophy. I let anybody dl my stuff, but when I have the time to monitor i do privilege those I am dl-ing from because it seems right to me to do so. I'm not closing on the others, just making them wait a little more, and after all ,that's why you have a hotlist feature on xnap, though i wouldn't be too sure about it's effectiveness, at least it works as a reminder for me, as a sort of VIP list .... I don0t limit anyhting else...if a guy wants to dl 10 files from me, i don't really see why I should manage his dls so that he only does one at a time. I let the xnap "random" management of my queuing deal with that. About bandwidth, i have noticed that sometimes i can give 25kbs for uploads, and still keep a very satisfactory dl bandwidth...other times i will have to bring down the upload bandwitdth because it jeopardises my dls too much. I don't really know the prameters that make these differences, but they do seem to vary quite often. My best bet to keep a 30kps dl rate is to fix the upload rate at a maximum of 10/15kbs, but i know of paranoid xnap users who keep theri upload rate at 1 kbs because they may just miss half a kb of theri download rate if they crank it up.....in my mind that sucks ! Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2017377 By: nobody i haven't been on xnap for quite some time, but i know about this "napster server list being down thingy". i had no problems with that one, cause i keep my server list. but now i get connected to my usual "about 12 servers" and see something like this: SonikNap 9.614 users 0!! GB 0!! files ??????? how can this be? the same zero files and zero gb applies also for another network, but i can't remember the name right now. should i just delete SonikNap from my list? also: what happened to TheNet? jamjam2 ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2016500 By: zappalives OK, so I did a little testing as suggested by Yven, and it looks like we have a winner ! This is how it worked every time I tried it (5 times until now) on my Imac G4 800Mhz OSX 10.2.5 with xnap 2.5 pre 2. Any other way will see your "incomplete" file either disappear completely, or sit there in your directory without ever being resumed. First, your "busted" incomplete directory must be deleted and the contents moved into another directory. Then restart xnap, you will have a NEW empty "incomplete" directory. Move the incomplete files from your backup directory into the "new " incomplete directory. Now this is going to seem a little nonsensical, but I would advise to download a few files in order to populate the incomplete directory a little. Not doing so resulted in the loss of the "resumed" files in one of the tests I made. Next step is to search for the file you want to recover (of course it has to be that exact same file, same name, same dimension...), right click on the file name, choose "resume from...", and your file should now be part of your queued files, three out of five of the files i resumed are now downloading with no problem . If this doesn't work for you, you may want to try to open and close xnap before and after you have moved your files from your temporary directory to the new incomplete xnap directory before you decide to give up. On a completely different subject I just recently discovered that the continuous freezing of my xnap was due to the icon of the modem diagnostics of my Alcatel manta modem. Getting rid of the diagnostic icon in the task bar solved it. Long live xnap ! ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
