I understand your point here (and I agree with it, at least for some of the more common extensions), but I feel I should point out that 7-Zip *already* support the .jar format; perhaps not officially, but in that .jar is just a renamed .zip, you can open them just fine.

ISO is a disk image: you can create ISO with your CD-mastering software of choice and if you have none then ISO is of little use to you since it is not compressed.

2. The unRAR sources may be used in any software to handle RAR
archives without limitations free of charge, but cannot be used
to re-create the RAR compression algorithm, which is proprietary.
Distribution of modified unRAR sources in separate form or as a
part of other software is permitted, provided that it is clearly
stated in the documentation and source comments that the code may
not be used to develop a RAR (WinRAR) compatible archiver.

Yes, that is right. LHArc (as it was named on the Amiga) is LZH with the *.lha suffix. And indeed I am unable to open any LHA archives using 7Zip GUI, since it does not support the filename suffix :-(
I would like to ask for support. BTW: One of the largest software archives uses exclusivly LHArc:
www.aminet.net. Whenever I mount my Amiga drives as SAMBA share, I can't use 7Zip on them :-(
AmigaOS4 (PowerPC) and MorphOS (PowerPC) use LHArc as well, btw.

Although JAR are just renamed ZIP files it would be nice to add gui support. Its annoying to rename jars if GUI could do that (especially because you have to enable extensions view and stuff)...

There are two sorts of compressed jar files with the .jar extension:
a) The ones used by Sun Microsystems which are rather renamed zip files
b) the ones that are an own compression format by "ARJ Software, Inc." which was planned as a successor for ARJ but didn't get widely used: http://www.arjsoftware.com/jar.htm
If 7-Zip supported the .jar extension it would indicate rather the latter. It is OK to just support the .zip extension for the zip format. Only because Sun and Mozilla use zip files with a "proprietary" file extension doesn't help here. What if IBM used their own extension, would you add that, too, then?

There are some (windows/dos) formats which the program does not support.
..., ace, alz, arc, arg, asd, b64, bel, bh, bhx, bin, dz, enc, ear, gca, gza, hki, img, imp, iso, jak, jam, jar, lha, lzh, lzs, mim, rez, spl, sqx, tgz, uue, war, yz1, xxe, zac, zoo, ...
When does "7-Zip" support more formats ???
lzh - in next version.
*Kisses Igor*
Thanks. That is one of those formats that are actually out in the wild and even used by professionals (unlike ace,...).
If you would fix 7-zip to display zip and rar archive comments, I would kiss you again. ;)
Support of ace & sqx would be good !

Do not forget the rk-format (WinRK).

ACE - see FAQ
RK - never (license)
TGZ = TAR & GZ already does
MIM & B64 - simple, should do
> TGZ = TAR & GZ already does
Wouldn't it be great if 7-zip said "this gzip file contains a tar file, would you like me to open the internal archive?" a la WinZip?
Great software. First thing that I install on every PC that I use.
Correction: MIM = B64 - simple, should do
ISO, IMG (FD,HD) - should do, very useful
>>> more formats to write an archive, not only to read ! <<<

Is it possible for you to incorporate the ability to rar files? You can only 7z, tar and zip.
unRar license:

Then there maybe a wrapper-plugin for rarring that uses simple rar.exe. At least for FAR plugin ;)
And it would be great if both filenames could be supported, .lzh and .lha since I saw both out in the wild.
According to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/LHA the .lha name was used on the amiga (?).

Right click over the jar file and select 7-zip -> Open archive. That works for me (the menu items in right click popup menu depend on your settings)

And then I may say that .wsz is a simple .zip file that is renamed by Nullsoft/Winamp?
But there may be an option to replace which decoder will be used for each file extension.
The program must become an universal tool. For as many formats as possible.
