    fileaxy

    fileaxy

Fileaxy does file sync, de-duplication, image matching & bulk preview

Fileaxy is a file de-duplication, organization, synchronization, and bulk previewing tool which utilizes a new user interface for local file management. Using content hashing or machine vision algorithms, Fileaxy can detect identical files as well as similar names, images, videos, or fonts and correlate those to others based on naming conventions. Optionally integrates with ImageMagick, GraphicsMagick, FFmpeg, and Mac Sips file decoding with a simple button click. Fileaxy opens NO network connections and will NOT request passwords. Fileaxy uses NO 3rd party libraries or code. Read/write wear to SSDs and mechanical drives is minimized where possible. Runs with Java 8+ [https://adoptopenjdk.net] on Mac, Windows, and Linux distros. My goal is to have Fileaxy manage 2 million available and unavailable files and their relationships live in the UI. Civic Tech Field Guide

The directory web application for the Civic Tech Field Guide

The Civic Tech Field Guide is led by its Curator, Matt Stempeck. The project’s mission is to effectively grow the field of civic tech. We have many challenges facing democracies and the world at large, and it’s our belief that we need more people contributing more productively to improving things. This belief drives our core values of: A global perspective, as we can all learn from others’ work. Making our resources as available as possible through open source code, open data licensing, and strong accessibility. Inclusively pointing to helpful resources others have created, even and especially if they could be seen as competitors. Providing an often missing archival memory of the field, so we can learn from our past mistakes and get better at what we do, rather than brush failures under the carpet.

Open Source Knowledge Management Software Guide

Open source knowledge management software is a type of technology platform designed to help companies and organizations store, organize, develop, and share important data. The primary benefit of these platforms is that they allow users to quickly access critical information in an organized manner. This allows for greater collaboration across an organization or group, as users can instantly access documents and resources from one central location.

Open source knowledge management systems are made available with code that is open and free to the public. This allows anyone with the proper coding skills to customize the software according to their own needs. Additionally, because there are multiple versions of the software available, it gives developers more flexibility when creating their own solutions. For example, if a company wants specific features not included in one version of the software, they can modify another version to fit their needs better.

Another benefit of using open source knowledge management systems is that they are typically very secure and reliable compared to other software solutions on the market today. Due to its open nature, any security flaws or bugs can be addressed quickly by developers who volunteer their time for improving the system’s overall quality and usability. Furthermore, since it is constantly updated by those same developers working on improvements without charging extra fees for additional upgrades makes it an attractive option for businesses looking for cost-effective solutions with higher reliability than what proprietary programs offer.

Finally, open source knowledge management systems also provide users with a high level of scalability due to their ability to easily add new features or expand existing ones without needing major modifications or updates each time something new is developed or implemented into them. This makes them a great choice for organizations that need regularly changing capabilities such as digital libraries or customer portals where different information may be needed frequently. As long as there are coders willing to keep up with maintenance tasks related to upkeep and expansion requests on an ongoing basis then this solution will never become outdated so you don’t have worry about losing valuable data due too long periods between product refreshes like you would with other products on the market today.

Features of Open Source Knowledge Management Software

  • Accessibility: Open source knowledge management software typically provides web-based access, enabling users to quickly and easily share information regardless of physical location. This makes it well suited for remote workforces and collaboration between teams in different geographic areas.
  • Collaboration: Knowledge management software allows users to collaborate on projects in real time by providing tools for creating and sharing documents, managing tasks, creating events and setting deadlines. It also ensures that everyone is working from the same version of files and documents, avoiding confusion or duplication of effort.
  • Automated Tagging: The software can automate the process of tagging content with relevant keywords, making it easier for users to search for relevant information quickly. This feature helps ensure that all knowledge is accurately stored and organized so that it can be found when needed.
  • Analytics: Many open source knowledge management solutions include analytics capabilities that provide insight into user behavior and usage trends over time. This helps administrators track user engagement levels as well as identify any areas where more training or resources may be needed to increase user adoption rates.
  • Security & Scaling: These systems are designed to make data privacy a priority by employing a variety of security protocols such as encryption technology, two-factor authentication processes, etc., to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or misuse; they also offer scalability options allowing them to grow with an organization’s increasing needs.

Open source knowledge management software is typically free to download and use. It often includes a wide range of features and tools for businesses, including document sharing, version control, search capabilities, collaboration tools, workflow management, task tracking, reporting functions and more. However, some open source KM packages may come with additional costs if the user wishes to upgrade to improved features or access help from technical support teams. Additionally, many organizations opt to purchase a professional services package from an open source vendor which can include training sessions on how best to use their particular system as well as integration assistance for any third-party applications that are not included in the base package. This type of service typically ranges in price depending on the level of technological expertise required and the size of your business or organization.

What Does Open Source Knowledge Management Software Integrate With?

Open source knowledge management software can integrate with many different types of software, including web browsers, word processors, content management systems, search engines, and discussion forums. Web browsers are able to access the information stored in open source knowledge management software and display it in an easy-to-read format. Word processors such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer allow users to write and edit documents within the knowledge management system itself. Content Management Systems (CMS) often provide a user interface for managing website content and organizing documents within the system. Search engines like Google or Bing allow users to quickly find information stored within the knowledge base using keywords or phrases. Finally, discussion forums let users converse about specific topics and share their ideas with others inside the software platform. All of these types of software can be integrated with open source knowledge management solutions for maximum efficiency and usability.

What Are the Trends Relating to Open Source Knowledge Management Software?

Open source software can provide this functionality at a lower cost than proprietary solutions.
  5. Improved Security: Open source software is often more secure than proprietary solutions due to the availability of regular updates from developers and the ability to customize security settings according to individual requirements.

Getting Started With Open Source Knowledge Management Software

Getting started with open source knowledge management software is relatively straightforward and can be achieved in a few simple steps.

  1. First, decide which type of software best meets your needs. There are a variety of open source solutions available and it’s important to understand the differences between them before settling on one. Once you have identified the right product for you, download it from its website or through an online repository such as GitHub or SourceForge. When you have completed this step, make sure to read any accompanying documentation that comes with the package, as it will likely provide tips and tricks on how to use the software effectively and efficiently.
  2. The next step is to install the software on your system or server (depending on what works best for your organization). During installation, make sure all settings are properly aligned for security purposes as well as optimal performance of the application. After installation is complete, create accounts for users who will be accessing this system and give them each appropriate user roles based upon their responsibilities within the organization.
  3. Once everyone has access to the knowledge management platform, start building an organizational taxonomy that contains different topics related to projects they may be working on in-house or collaborating with others remotely. This taxonomy should include fields that align with information categories — like client insights, market reports, industry trends, customer service conversations — so that everything is easy to reference when needed quickly during business operations. As time progresses more content can continuously added into this structure while also making edits wherever necessary in order to ensure accurate representation of facts at any given moment in time.
  4. Finally, consider taking advantage of automation tools integrated into some open source software products which allow users schedule periodic reviews & updates as part of regular maintenance processes — reducing manual labor required by individuals tasked with managing KM systems across departments within their enterprise setup. Additionally leverage social features provided by platform(s) selected so end-users can communicate their questions/concerns directly relating specific topics addressed using platform resources – enabling faster resolution times & better collaboration experiences overall.
