A macro enabled Excel workbook for estimating drum loading by a cable.
Cable Spool.xlsm was developed to estimate loading on a storage drum due to winding of a steel cable. It was later updated to estimate internal loading in GRP ruggedized single fiber fiber-optic cable spools. Adhesive was applied as the cable was wound on a flanged mandrel. After the adhesive cured, the mandrel was removed leaving a spool composed of cable rings bound together by the adhesive. Both cables were very stiff radially.
