Stats data do not match

Reported by: steven_shiau Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: ENGR NF-4282 Cc:
Private: no

Here we found the stats data do not match.
1/1/2012 to 3/31/2012 totally 572K downloads:

In April, the downloads number is about 175K:

So from 1/1/2012 to 4/30/2012, the downloads number is 572k+175K=747K

However, on the stats website, from 1/1/2012 to 4/30/2012, the totally downloads number is 771K:

747K vs. 771K

Where were I wrong?

Thank you for this report, I confirm that I'm seeing the same numbers as you are. I'm escalating this to our engineering team for further review here: https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/4282/

The stats interface dynamically chooses to show either a daily, weekly, or monthly view. The weekly view is causing the problem, since weeks don't line up exactly with months.

2012-01-01+to+2012-03-31 happens to have the weeks line up with the months (Mar 31 is at the end of a week) so it is correct.

2012-04-01+to+2012-04-30 uses a daily view, so no problems there.

2012-01-01+to+2012-04-30 is the problem. The last week on that page is 2012-04-29, which means it counts through the end of that week: 2012-05-05. It is counting 5 days of May which is not correct. If you look at those 5 days https://sourceforge.net/projects/clonezilla/files/stats/timeline?dates=2012-05-01+to+2012-05-05 the total is 24,732 which is the difference between 747K and 771K.

So, to sum up, 747K is correct. To ensure you're viewing correct monthly values, either look at a single month, or expand the time period far enough that the report is monthly, not weekly.

We'll use the engineering ticket https://sourceforge.net/p/allura/tickets/4282/ to fix the weekly view and make it accurate.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
