SVN and SourceForge account passwords aren't both UNIX type

Reported by: williwaw-cirse Owned by: ctsai
Keywords: ENGR NF-2012 Cc:
Private: no

Description

SourceForge allows non-UNIX type passwords when registering, but if you use one, you can't use SVN.
Maybe would it be best to inform guest registering if their password are UNIX compatible or not.
Took me a long time to figure out why I couldn't connect SVN but could connect SourceForge with my account.

Hello,

Could you clarify what you mean by "UNIX compatible"? Perhaps an example password? (Not the one you used of course).

Thanks,

I'm not sur if it's because of UNIX compatible characters but here is an exemple :
I register on SourceForge with "I'm the cheshire cat." as password, no error is thrown when using the website but it won't let me connect to SVN.
However, if I change the password to just "cheshire", I'll be able to use both website and SVN.
