This project implemented some awesome features. Unfortunately, it appears to be living-dead software, slowly rotting, and without any maintainers. As of December 2014, it does not work with the 2012+ versions of the associated speech recognizer.

There is a new project at voicecode.io that is a more general programming toolkit for voice. It supports chaining commands so you can speak a whole phrase of commands and it will parse them and perform all the actions.

Thanks for Voicecode, it's the best!

I only recently heard about this project, and was wondering what the current state of it is – e.g. is it considered usable, or is there a lot of development still to do? Also, how easy or difficult would it be to implement support for languages other than Python, and/or editors other than Emacs?
