First adding the following to your squareRoot.asy file and obtain the squareRoot.pdf file : settings.render=0 ; settings.outformat="pdf"; Then you can include the squareRoot.pdf in your .tex file .

maybe try ghostscript 10.03 / 10.02 when using settings.render=0 and settings.outformat="pdf"; ?

For Windows 11 : although my MikTeX has asy.exe and xasy.exe within it , I just renamed them as asy01.exe and xasy01.exe and I downloaded asymptote 3.01 from official website and installed it in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Asymptote . The error error: could not load module 'plain' is fixed by reinstalling asymptote 3.01 in the default path , which is C:\ProgramFiles\Asymptote .
