would have thought the "core"-cars (e.g. the official carsets) should kept in the repo for maintenance, keeping them updated (or at least have tickets on whats needed) and otherwise keep track of them. I agree. This is what we already do with most cars, but sometimes I uploaded them to the file server directly as https://forge.a-lec.org is often being DDoS'd by aggressive AI scrapers. I wish they can fix that situation soon - see https://forge.a-lec.org/cominfra/forge/issues/33 for further reference....

while i was aware that you were adding the capabilty for generating drivers, i thought you kept the possiblity of having preset car/driver combinations with a fixed livery bound to it around (for preset championships etc.) This is still supported: manually crafted drivers can be installed into the user config directory (i.e., $HOME/.speed-dreams-2 on Unix-like systems), inside the drivers/ directory (e.g.: $HOME/.speed-dreams-2/drivers/shadow/). Similarly to how drivers were listed on the SVN repository,...

The assets database is not listed on the official website because it is meant to be machine-readable and accessible from the game itself, or any other client that supports the database schema. which means there should be usable setups with fitting robot drivers for (most of) the carsets with the cars listed there I am not sure what you mean with "fitting robot drivers". That is because, exceptionally, the sc-deckard-conejo was uploaded directly to our file server, as opposed to most of the other cars and tracks, that were instead automatically uploaded to the forge with the help of a shell script. Other cars like the sc-carson-96 and the sc-murasama-nsx were uploaded likewise.

Hi @wec-00 The SD Wiki in SourceForge is no longer maintained. In fact, we intend to leave SourceForge entirely and leave it as a read-only archive, since the source code, assets and releases have been hosted in Forgejo for over a year now. These forums are one of the last items we still must migrate somewhere else. On the other hand, the canonical URL for the official assets database is https://www.speed-dreams.net/assets.json . Hi Gunny, excellent work as always! However, the cockpit textures seem taken from real-world pictures, which means they are very likely restricted by copyright, and therefore such a derivative use could constitute copyright infringement. Would it be possible to redo these textures without relying on copyrighted material, or at least one that is under a free license such as the Free...

Hi @gunny, excellent work as always! I have a few questions/suggestions: The .acc file should be renamed from snow-olsen.acc to Snow-Olsen.acc. Or, maybe better, use lowercase names for all files to avoid confusion. Could you please add the following line to the Header section in Snow-Olsen.xml? It will disable the slowdown and wall hit penalties as we already do for other dirt tracks. <attstr name="disabled penalties" val="slowdown;wallhittimeinvalidate" /> What is the source for dt4-people1.png?...

I truncated these values to simply two digits after the decimal point and what do you know, it fired up. That is really unexpected. 🤔 Values coming from XML files are parsed by libexpat and transmitted to the game engine via const char *, and the engine does not seem to rely on fixed-length buffers, so I do not see room for undefined behaviour there. It would be interesting to debug the application with a memory checker like Valgrind, if that is possible at all on macOS.

Hi Roman, Since 2.4.0, driver lists like simplix.xml are dynamically generated by inspecting the driver directories. If you want to add a new driver, you must create a directory inside it, called after an unsigned integer e.g.: "simplix/0/", and let the game re-scan the directories. This is done when either starting the game or exiting the "Downloads" menu. Do not worry if the directory (e.g.: "0/") gets silently renamed by the game. Hi, unfortunately the speed-dreams.org domain is out of our control, despite multiple attempts at contacting its registree. The only official website for the project is https://www.speed-dreams.net/ Thank you and best regards, Xavi On 29 December 2024 09:19:03 CET, Tesf antoniosf@users.sourceforge.net wrote: **[tickets:#1300] People try to install and get a broken link ** Status: new Milestone: 2.4.0 Created: Sun Dec 29, 2024 08:19 AM UTC by Tesf Last Updated: Sun Dec 29, 2024 08:19 AM UTC Owner:...

it appears that the default naming handling of releasing plugins needs to be extended with a few extra special cases. That only explained error messages such as: 00:00:02.280 Default Error No usable 'shadow' driver (shadow.xml not found or not readable) In fact, these will be fixed once my work with random driver generation is finished, since there will be no longer directories named after the robot name+category e.g.: shadow_sc or simplix_ls1, but only shadow or simplix. As a bonus, this also reduces...

Hi, thanks for reporting this issue. I am currently too busy with driver generation and the migration to Git to work on this now, but I will keep this issue on my backlog.

I've also seen segfaults, but these are much rarer and perhaps only triggered when changing the rendering engine. I can confirm this, although I have not investigated this issue yet. Finally, I'm seeing messages such these when quitting the game: 00:00:02.280 Default Error No usable 'shadow' driver (shadow.xml not found or not readable) This is a known issue and is caused by how the game handles drivers and shared libraries. Currently, drivers are named after the "robot" name + the car category identifier...

Hi, sorry for the delayed answer. I personally think Speed Dreams should not require shared libraries in order to work, since shared libraries are usually meant to be shared with other applications, which is not the case for Speed Dreams (probably except from robots, which could be shared with the TORCS project). However, the use of shared libraries in Speed Dreams is very tightly coupled at so many levels within its design, so unfortunately it would very difficult to replace it. My attempts at trying...

After two months of work, the changes have been finally merged into trunk, so that it should be possible to build both Speed Dreams and its 3rdParty dependencies natively from Windows, as well as cross-built from GNU/Linux to Windows.
