Yeah, those comments look reasonable if those would be used as format strings. The idea to turn each case into a separate string sounds the most straight-forward to me.
Haha! :D Well, I don't disagree that this indicator on concept has its usefulness, IF you know what it means. That unscouted settlements are marked in a special way IS useful, it's just done in a IMHO strange and confusing way. My point is not to remove the information altogether, its more about displaying in a more accessible way (like an icon+tooltip). This is also not about myself only, it's about UX in general. I suspect only a small minority will actually understand the meaning of the dollar...

What's the point of displaying region names if they are outdated/wrong? If the game shows "Unknown Region" for a region I actually discovered, this doesn't make sense to me.
Yeah, it looks exactly as I suspected. Everything is completely hardcoded, and strings are just concatenated. This is poison for translators, no way to work around that from the translator perspective. Ideally, all these string constructions would be using some kind of format strings and then be reported to Gettext.

Yeah this was more like a question than a bug report. But I still wanted to report it to make sure if this really was intended or if this was something that was overlooked. Gameplay-wise, I have no strong opinion on either side.

I saw the new texts. "High magnitude latitudes" sounds pretty technical/mathematical. I know what you mean ("the absolute value of the latitude") but it really sounds like "Programmer Language" and I find it hard to translate into German. In German, I paraphrased it with something like "$TERRAIN can be found high in the North as well as low in the South." As for the Arctic text change, I think it is fine for now although it's not clear what is meant with "usually". For the futue, it would be nice...
