Thanks. I did try blind solve at the time and it failed, but I tried running it through again after updating, and it worked. But given that there weren't any changes between the version I had and the current one related to solving, I'm not sure if it was a code change, or an install issue, or maybe a parameter being passed that changed. (I wasn't able to solve from APT to ASTAP as part of a program, but tried to solve via the ASTAP GUI and it failed also.) I'll try again next clear skies and keep...
I saw back in 2021 someone posted about having issues with solving on some globular clusters, and it appears I'm having that issue now. I tried a variety of exposures and good and bad focus levels, and couldn't get M2 to solve. (Everything else I solved up to that point and afterward solved in less than 2 seconds). I've attached a single example.
Yup, works perfectly with the unstretched PNG. Thanks again.
Ah, that makes sense. I'll check out the new version, and try with an unstreteched image. Thanks!
Came across something odd, while trying to figure out why an image wasn't solving. As a test, I took a FITS image and ran it through the solver. This worked correctly, and allowed me to set the parameters as shown in the image. I then converted the image to a PNG, and attempted to solve, which failed. I generated the quads for both images, and you can see they're significantly different. Any insight into this? I've attached the FITS and PNG in question.
