tl;dr Reverting my Debian 12 machines to rsyslogd / actual files in /var/log/ Just posting this for anyone else running Debian 12 (or anything else that insists on using systemd journal for all logging). I decided to go a bit nuclear and use this persons blog: https://www.going-flying.com/blog/debian-bookworm-journald.html Venting a bit - but good heavens I shouldn't have to fight this hard to operate on logs.
