Looks like there are several discussions of this problem. I'm hoping it is important enough to merit a fix. Using Win10 64-bit and Excel 2013, I am still getting the same problem. If I open (double-click) an Excel workbook from a 7z archive, and Excel is already open, the changes are not saved to the archive. If I open the same workbook but Excel is not open, then when I save it, 7-Zip asks whether I want to save it in the archive. I also wonder whether there are naked copies of my workbooks left...

I think I solved the first part... I just re-created the archive using "No solid"...

I'm using 7-Zip 9.20. I haven't used it very much, and just for small sets of files....
