I should stick to my guns and say, MC is a Meta scraper for Kodi...but adding this one tag should be simple, and non intrusive, with a preference option disable by default. See what I can do.
I'll see what can be done. Have to have some sort of fall-back in case there is no Music Video section....but should be possible.
Haven't finished working on some bugs, but did a test build https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediacompanion/files/MC%203.771c/Media%20Companion%203.771c%20x64.exe/download please let me know once you've downloaded as this isn't for general consumption yet so I'll remove it after you've got it. And let me know how it works, what bug for Music scraping your experiencing.
yes, hope to finish fixing this section by the weekend and put out a new release.
filtered data is stored in the moviecache.xml file, and not easily to add this without slowing MC down quite a bit for users that wouldn't use this function. As well as there are two different ways of storing these extra images. with sub folders, or as <moviename.-fanart0.jpg etc. While it may be nice to have this as a filter, I can't see a smooth method of adding this filter. As for adding rescrape context option, this should be possible.
I have checked and this data is available on TMDB. Unfortunately MC can not get this data from TVDb as we have not move to the latest ''paid'' api version. I have roughly added the code, not available yet for testing, and it works. I need to work out how to display this in MC, as presently the tv form is very full.
Movie - Add originallanguage node.
TV - Add OriginalLanguage node, and tagline node.
TV - Add Season Plot node and include in display when season selected in Treeview.
MV - Fixes for scraping data from Wikipedia.
Just tested with latest MC, and your config file. Megan scraped, and trailer was downloaded, with correct extension
I'll download the config file but won't get to test this until tomorrow. But just do this for me. on MC main tool bar, go to Tools, and click on Empty cache & Series Folders delete the trailer file in the Megan folder. And refresh the Megan movie in MC. Then, click download button again, and check this files is named with an extension. I believe it should be .webm extension from my tests before.
Got to ask, where are you running Media Companion from. From the desktop? If so, this is a protected location which will cause issues for MC to run correctly. Check the Wiki for recommended locations of MC folder. So I just tested your path, well, my desktop for M3gan, and scraped trailer correctly. Rescraping data for --> M3GAN 2.0 Getting Trailer URLYoutube URL OK Downloading trailer...!!! Trailer downloaded OK : [C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\Test\M3GAN Collection\M3GAN 2.0 (2025) (1080p)\M3GAN 2.0 (2025)...
Nothing I did unless it was tag blacklist but thing that was a few versions earlier. Just to note, there is a tagcache.xml file in the settings folder. This might be where your tags got stuck...maybe.
So sorry, batch file should have been included in the release. But MC 3.771b has the latest yt_dlp version I've attached the batch file, place it in the assets folder.

MC - Update Youtube downloader.
Music Video - some partial fixing of functionality, but not complete yet.
Tags where? Movie, TV, Keywords?
TV - Fix IMDb Series and Episode rating scrape.
MC - Change illegal character from colon, to underscore.
TV - F2 manual add include year end of title search results.
Movie - Fix Stars
What version of Windows? If Windows 7, downloaded is no longer supported damn it. Also, in the Asset folder of Media Companion, just run the 'ztest.bat' file, will try an update of 'yt-dlp_x86.exe'
It may be possible but I see no point, as it will blow out the folder and or movie file title length. Just filter this in Media Companion instead.
As for the copying the settings folder, thats all I do...Though I have a dedicated MC folder within a MC folder eg: C:_MC\MCMaster So I put the download into this folder, run to extract, then open the just created folder and copy all contents and paste into MCMaster.
Ah yes, you must call it from within the Media Companion folder, so it can detect the origin folder for all the settings.
So sorry, working long days, and doing renovations since moving towns. I plan to spend some quality time with Media Companion leading up to Xmas, to sort out this, and other issues.
The Oops error message is saying about looking into C:\Users*** folder. Not sure why MC is trying to access this folder, specially if you have MC in "C:\Media Companion 3.770b x64\ folder. If MC is in a User folder, this is a protected location and can cause issues like your experiencing/ As for the command line for scraping movies, I haven't used that to scrape a movie in a very long time, but just tested with seems to be working OK. Getting Writers and Directors, but Stars is definitely blank,...
https://sourceforge.net/p/mediacompanion/discussion/usrhtmltmplts/thread/43e88b1816/99e3/attachment/myFlix_MC-Template_v2.1.5.rar
Will check into this soon.
Sorry about that, will look into getting MC to give a movie without this tag a default value.
Found I could get this to work. Will be in the next release.
TV - Add function to context menu 'Rescrape Season'.
TV - Fix for folder titles with full stop in place of space character.
Movie & TV - Allow Maximum actors from IMDb.
Movie & TV - Fixed IMDB Actors again, for how long...no idea.
Scraping TV Series - No Tags
All good. Closing Ticket.
I'm looking into it now, it might be possible, just need to make sure I don't break anything lol
Hi Jason Try as I can, I can not get MC to overwrite the images of an existing series without a tvshow.nfo. So I am scraping a series from fresh by just adding the series folder to Media Companion. This folder has fanart.jpg, poster.jpg and a banner.jpg existing. Just to sanity check, I put a different series poster and fanart image in this folder. And when I check, these images have not been overwritten. Sorry, I can not reproduce.
Fix in place for the next release, MC will change the period character to a space character.
IMDb actors fixed again. Will be in the next release.
Movie - Fix for png artwork type.
TV - Batch rescrape Wizard will now run over filtered series list.
Movie Set - Fix Update All button. Movie Set - Add contex option 'Open Artwork folder'.
Fix in place for the next release.
Sorted the F4 - Rescraper Wizard. Will now run the filtered TV Series. Sorry, but second request is a No. You can filter the series by Ended, then open context menu, and click Lock all Shows Will only lock the selected shows. The Lock Shows is so these Locked series will be excluded on the Rescraper Wizard, unless you specifically want to use the Wizard over all Series. Having an option to flip the locked status will cause runtime errors and defeat the purpose of locking. Sorry, up to the user to...
Context option added.
Missing aired episodes
As no further discussion, closing ticket.
You asked about this in Discussions, and has been answered. https://sourceforge.net/p/mediacompanion/discussion/general/thread/ab69622fde/ I will look at the code, and see if it is possible, but not a priority.
Hi Thomas I have looked into this again and again. The only way your not getting tags for series is if you have set the option in TV General / Scraper tab to Max keywords as Tags to None I can't reproduce this issue.
Batch Missing Set Info rescraper not working
Closing Ticket.
Button now visible on Movie Sets tab that will refresh all movie sets data.
At present, this is only on the Movie Sets tab, not included in the Batch Rescraper. But, I see a button is missing that updates all the movie sets, I'll fix that in the next release, sorry.
Um, working for me, gets </trailer> <tag>based on movie</tag> <tag>22nd century</tag> <tag>spaceship crash</tag> <tag>near future</tag> <tag>human robot hybrid</tag> <genre>Sci-Fi & Fantasy</genre>
Thanks for the extensive testing, this definitely helps, as well as opens a couple more questions like why does rewriting the nfo correct the actor image path? Will look into this, but as mentioned, I need to set up a central actor folder over nfs.
Tags are only available from TMDb, so scrape from TMDb will populate the tags.
This will take some time as I don't have a share anymore to test central actor folder. As for fallback for actor image, not at this time. At present, you have three options, TVDb, TMDB, and IMDb (of which IMDb is broken again)
I'll look into this. So it's just the episode thumb that's being overwritten?
This can be done. Will work on it.
Thanks for bringing to my attention, I will investigate and see about adding this to MC.
Will look into this. I feel the missing poster filter may only be searching for jpg's, but have to check the code.
Checking into this and IMDb have changed their webpages again. Also, In fullcredits for way of the water is only returning 64 main cast and another 16 extras, but MC never adds the extras. But there is a lot for TV series, so I'll work on this But, IMDB Actor scraping seems broken again, and this needs to be fixed...again.
TV - TV Posters if TVDb or TMDb All is selected, leave thumbnails visible when selecting different season to save image to.
Just tested, and MC is leaving the images in place if they exist. How are you adding the new TV Shows?
Next release, if you have already selected TVDB All or TMDB All, and images loaded, and then switch from Main or switch seasons, the images will not disappear. As for preview size, sorry, this is set to allow specific 10 images. If you need to view a preview thumb better you can double click the image and it will show in another window at mostly full size. Marking this request as completed.
First I must say that MC should have removed the full stops when searching for the series title, so I will look into that and put a fix in for the next release. But, MC has never renamed the series folder. It's not a function in Media Companion...at this time.
Checked and your right. I'll look into this for the next release.
Can you give me Movie and series with more that 50 actors so I can test please.
No, not possible. Firstly, the series and episodes are linked by TMDB Id and TVDb Id's. And this is what we use to get data from each site. What your asking is basically to scrape from both sites and merge the data together. Sorry, not going to happen.
TV - Fix display of multiple characters for actors with a forward slash. Limit extra characters to 60.
The filter for Missing Aired episodes is there, but you need to enable Display missing episodes under the TV Shows drop-down menu.
All good, and I see IMDb actors with multiple characters this is broken again. But, I'll change this to a / character instead of a comma.
Yep, the last 2020 would have caused the issues. I believe you can add -EDGE202 to clean filenames in Preferences -> Common Settings.
Yes logging is atrocious in media companion I'll try and add more logging for the batch scraping for the next release.
I haven't looked at this and it wasn't removed so something may be a miss. I'll have to check it over the weekend.
Now you've made me curious what was wrong with the original file names?
adds both tv show and episode actors when add imdbid
Closing ticket
Multiple Movies Sets with the same name
Closing ticket as requested.
This should be working with latest release. Closing request as done.
IMDB Scraper somewhat works on episodes and shows
MC 3.770b out now, fixes for IMDb cast for shows, episodes, and movies.

Unfortunately this requires manual intervention, so no, not a feature that will be in MC. You'll have to select the movies, and manually change this to the collection you want them in. This is already possible in Media Companion.
The problem is these collections have two different Collection Id's I can not find a Aardman Collection on TMDb, but can find the Wallace & Gromit Collection I feel you need to remove the movies from the Aardman collection, and rescrape them for Wallance & Gromit. You could in MC change the movies under the Aardman collection to the Wallace & Gromit, in the main browser window, you can select the drop box and change the collection a movie is linked to.
Fix in place for next release
TV - Refix Cast from IMDb. Movie - Fix Top250, Ratings and Votes from IMDb.
