    FWIW - I created a simple qml script (based on the scripts provided in the kid3 app) which does everything that I need for playlist generation by expanding the current directory and then generating the filenames for all .mp3 files including the last level directory name and then writing this list out to a .m3u file at the parent directory level; filename for .m3u is either selected playlist or default if there isn't a selected playist.     thanks for the response! the steps you suggested do work. I had trouble dragging the filenames if I do one sub-folder at a time because it wouldn't drop them properly at the end or beginning in the playlist window. However if I select all and then deselect the sub-folder names it works fine. (Or just select all drag and drop and then delete the lines at the end for the sub-folder names.)

    I have a folder for an audiobook; the folder has 1 sub-folder for each disc from the audiobook (so, for example 12 sub-folders if 12 discs in audiobook). I want to create a playlist for the entire audiobook but cannot figure out how to do so. I have tried various approaches using playlist editor but they all fail to produce playlist for all tracks in all sub-folders.
