Additional note: It looks like the problem is within the code itself: v3.5.3 for Mac does allow for export, but 3.5.5 and 3.6.0 both cause the beachball of death...

I have this problem too. Is there a solution? I suspect it's an issue with permissions on my machine, but don't know where to begin looking.
