I managed to resolve the issue. The reason was that a extra folder named qst was left in the /var/www/qst folder and that apparently caused the authentication to fail. as soon as I removed the folder i managed to log in.

Hi, I've just installed QST using all the default settings but I just cannot login with the default admin/qstcaptain credentials. have anyone run into this issue before? do you have to authenticate from localhost the first time?
