I have a Steam Deck (LCD) using OS 3.5.7 and I wanted to use Clonezilla to make a clone of the internal SSD (of 512GB) to a new external SSD (of 1TB). I have used Rufus to make a bootable USB stick (of 256GB) containing the .iso of the latest stable version of Clonezilla. SOLVED. I had the same exact issue as OP describes. The problem was my USB stick. I used an SD card instead (Samsung EVO Plus 128GB) and then everything worked doing the exact same steps as before. :)
