Hi Scott using a VM for wayland is always going to have its drawbacks as wayland really needs a physical gpu, if you can set up passthrough from your vm to the physical gpu you will see alot of performance enhancement i have built out HYprland dotfiles for BlueStar Linux that run very well on bare metal install check them out on my github, it will let you understand how to configure the gpu's for wayland
