I think it is docked, because in the screenshot, you see that there is a tiny tab "Project Viewer" on the left of the edit area, and no other window is floating around. Also, as I wrote, I had clicked on "Open Project Viewer Dockable", so I guess it means that the viewer should be docked. How else can I check this?
You are right, my mistake. 25.02 is the Java version. jEdit is 5.7.0 . I found the Activity Log (in Utilities/Troubleshooting), but there is no "clear" button. How do I clear it?

When I boot Windows and start Ditto, I get every time a message that Ditto was not shut down properly the last time and needs to clean up. I then have to click OK and restart Ditto. This is pretty invonvenient. I usually don't explicitly exit every tiny utility, when shutting down Windows. If Ditto recognizes that it needs some housekeeping to do on start up, why bother the user?

Thank you! Works!!
With the alpha version, this works! Sadly, another feature seems to be gone in exchange: With fre:ac 1.0.32, the converted file had the same base name than the original file, only the extension changed (from, say, wav to m4a). Now the default is to create a directory and place the converted file under a name of its own (derived from the tags in the input file) into this directory. I found in the settings how to avoid creation of the directory and have the converted file to be simply placed in the...
Where can I find 1.1alpha? I've looked at https://sourceforge.net/projects/bonkenc/files/freac/ and it's not there. Also, is it possible to install the alpha version as a portable version? I carry it on a USB stick so that I can run it on any suitable host, and therefore I need a version which doesn't touch the registry. Also of 1.0.32, I'm using the portable version.
I'm using fre:ac 1.0.32 on Windows 7 to convert WAV (ID3v2.3) into MP4. The original WAV files have meta-information, in particular "Interpret" and "Title". In the created MP4 files, this information is missing. I am currently using a separated tool (called "MP3Tag") to manually enter this information. Is it possible to have fre:ac do this automatically?
Understood. How about optionally recognizing double-click (maybe better: double-left-click) on the tab to close it?
Example my current project: Working on laptop, using git. I can go back only to my last commit, but I don't commit after each save. Also if my HD crashes, my last backup is the most recent push to the git server. By placing the backup directory to an external HD, I have at least that state where I last saved my file (and I'm saving often).
I think this is also a useful feature, but it now clutters the project directory with .bak directories. I think my original feature request still does make sense. It really depends on how to structure a project.

I see. Indeed, this does it. As this is not really intuitive, maybe it would be a good idea to put this information in the description (or option settings) of the LookAndFeel plugin.
I found that this behaviour depends on the presence of one of two plugins: "LookAndFeel", and "SubstanceLookAndFeel". If I disable both, jEdit behaves normally. As soon as I enable one of them, jEdit switches to Metal. It seems that these plugins enforce switching to Metal.
Indeed, this was it. Once I turned off "Sort Buffer Sets", the problem disappears. I would still suggest keeping this as a bug against the BufferTabs plugin, because in the way it is written now, the usage is far from being intuitive. The problem is that the current dialogue does not explain to the user the real reason; the dialogue says that the tabs are reordered, but from the users viewpoint, he didn't reorder anything. Here a few suggestions on how it can be improved with respect to user friendliness:...

I wanted to check if I can see something in the jEdit Activity log, but starting from today (and without having changed anything in the configuration of jEdit), the Java Exception does not occur anymore, no matter how hard I tried! The only oddities are, that the message Process exit exited with code 0 is shown in the colour for error messages instead of information messages, and that typing exit does not close the console window. I don't know whether these are really bugs; maybe this is the intended...
I suggest that you change the title to ".... after some commands". While the red error status is shown always, the exception shows up only sometimes. Is there something I can do, such providing logfiles?
I'm not refering to showing the exit status. This is perfectly fine. I want to see the exit status. Please pay attention to what I reported on. I reported that an exit code 0 is treated as error, and that I can see a Java exception. As for the exit status, if the desired behaviour is to always treat an exit status as error, I understand that this is not an issue. The Java exception still might be. I also don't quite understand, that a ticket is closed, just because one person exists who doesn't happen...

Syntax highlighting for Ruby and Shell Scripts
It turned out that it worked for Ruby, but now I had a case where it didn't work: I also had changed the configuration for the Bash style, setting the Extension string to .bash;.bashrc;.sh;.sh_once;.zsh;.zshrc Now, a couple of days later, I opened a file with name common_show.zsh, and it was rendered as Text, not as Bash. Of course I could manually select the lexer, but I wonder why my settings did not invoke the lexer automatically. Could it be caused by the underscore in the filename?
This is great! May I suggest that the Style Configurator Window contains a small help text (or tooltip), explaining - maybe with an example - that the extensions should be separated by semicolon, as this is not obvious.
