Hi again I was able to use the aforementioned version of Clonezilla to create a restorable Image and on 2 different machines. I had to replace the unit that was the target of my images, as it apparently was the culprit. I am running a long test using ' smartctl ' and hopefully I will find what was the problem with that drive. It was an External HDD and I have no idea how old. I consider my question answered. Clonezilla is still a great utility and still my 'go to' whenever I am cloning drives. Much...
Hi I am unable to create and have a successful image of Fedora 42. It uses an Ext4 Boot partition and a BTRFS main partition. It creates the image (with Z9P) then when checking it it craps out. I tried it with X1P and it barely got started creating the image and crapped out. See attached picture for the errors from Z9P on checking the image it actually created and said was restorable.: I used Z9P and Z1P and neither would finish properly. No problem. Thanks for this info. Have a great day ... For clarity for anyone reading, the prerelease is based on Ubuntu 23.10 (Mantic) which was released in October 2023, so has a much more recent Linux kernel and will certainly boot more...
I have been looking forward to using Rescuezilla for a long time. I recently downloaded your latest (recommended ISO) rescuezilla-2.4.2-64bit.jammy.iso. I used 'dd' and put it onto a 8GB USB thumb drive. When I booted into it it would not finish opening. I tried again and the same result. My system is LINUX Fedora 38 and using the OS as noted here: Linux 6.6.4-100.fc38.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Dec 3 18:11:27 UTC 2023 unknown Is this a known issue? Can I wait a bit longer to give it a try?...
Hi Steven Thanks for that information. Have a great day ... Hi Steven Which live ISO can I download to give this a try? I am cloning a Fedora 38 and could use the "Support an extra dir "root" for the root fs with grub reinstallation. This is for the case that Fedora >= 38 uses an extra dir "root" for root file system, i.e., /root/ under the root partition. Older system just puts the dirs (boot, usr, var, lib) in the / of root file system. Thanks to Bob Bobsled for reporting this issue." feature. Can this version deal with NVME with BitLocker and Windows 11...
Hi I am trying to upgrade my Linux OS (Fedora 38) from one LENOVO laptop to a new LENOVO laptop I just acquired. It came with Windows 11 Home and I was able to back it up (using Clonezilla)and restore it to the new Laptop. That restore was seamless. I was unable to get my 'up-to-date' LENOVO, taken from the older laptop, to the new one. I am using Clonezilla Version ' clonezilla-live-2.6.2-15-amd64.iso '. The messages, when the job 'errored out' were with respect to a missing partition. I was unable...
