  • Modified ticket #547 on Gtk-Gnutella

    Assertion failure at src/lib/eslist.h:82: "NULL == list->tail || NULL == list->tail->next"

    Probably fixed by 1.1.12.

    Also make sure there is no "-fPIC" compilation flag anywhere. For some reason, this flag introduces lots of problems, and we don't need -fPIC when compiling gtk-gnutella. Please let me know and depending on the answers to the many questions I asked, I'll determine whether I should not re-open the bug to fix the problem.

    Also did you try to build with: build.sh --disable-malloc with normal optimization levels?

    -O0 is working for you? Can you try with -O1 then? It's possible that a program working with -O0 but not with higher levels of compiler optimizations has a side-effect bug, but it's also possible that there could be a subtle optimization bug. The problem is that I am unable to reproduce the failure, hence cannot easily diagnose.

    Close is pending release 1.1.2. Commit b141482be6a8323c4aa8b5dbbe932bf00958ca79 fixed the bug, hopefully. Can you try to grab "devel", compile it from source and verify that the bug no longer manifests on your side? Thanks.

    I think I have finally nailed down the root cause of this nasty bug after months of investigation.... Stay tuned, I will mark the bug fixed when I have validated that I can no longer see signs of that bug here, and the fix was committed to "devel".
