You can get the totals for "budget", "time spent", etc in the Tasks Viewer by collapsing the relevant sub-tasks

Using Task Coach on Windows 10

Check to see if there is a "Prerequisite" checked for the task. The last time i noticed this issue (task reverting to inactive) it had somehow had a prerequisite added - clearing this fix the issue
