In the cppcheck source, checkbool.cpp::isBool(), the values of "bool" and "_Bool" (from C99) are evaluated. In misra.py, isBoolExpression() only checks for "bool". It should also check for "_Bool" for consistency. Both places check for "true" and "false" so that is consistent with stdbool.h usage added for C99. Since MISRA is heavily used by the AUTOSAR standard, they are some additional extended definitions that would be useful to add in the .cpp and .py checks. AUTOSAR adds Platform_Types.h which...

Hi Guys. When processing rule checks in an addon module, I need to determine whether the processing is being performed for C90 or C99. cppcheck has the cli option --std=c99 but this information does not seem to be passed into the dump file. Is there an existng way to get this into the dump file or does cppcheck need to be updated? I would rather cppcheck do the operation so all the addons have the same information available, rather than adding it as an extra option when running the addon. Then cppcheckgui...

HI! First of all, thank you for implementing MISRA C checks in cppcheck. We just started applying these checks to our code as a request from a customer. My past experience has shown that most of these checks will provide real benefit and I have seen/fixed many of them in my career. It appears that the way rule 3.1 is applied by cppcheck is too restrictive (cppcheck 1.84). Granted, I believe the rule needs some clarification by the committee. The example code given: x=y // /* non-compliant +x // */...
