The zregina-1.2,zip file is the source code for integrating Regina into the Z-Shell on Linux. To find the latest Windows self-installer go to https://sourceforge.net/projects/regina-rexx/files/regina-rexx/3.9.6/ and scroll to the bottom of the file list and there will be a table with the all the available downloadable files with descriptions. The Windows self-installer will be Regina396w64.exe for the 64bit Intel/AMD processor.

I've had a similar report regarding Fedora 40. I've run tests on Fedora 40 and the problem is with the version of gcc on Fedora 40. If Regina is built with -O3 (optimiser level 3) which is the default for Regina, you get these errors. If you build Regina with -O2 (not quite the same level of optimisation, but considerably slower), the errors do not occur. So from my investigations, yes it is a Fedora 40 bug with the optimiser in the gcc compiler.

Over the years I've had various anti-virus packages report that Regina executables are a virus. If you downloaded the package directly from SourceForge then these are false positives. If you have a decent anti-virus package you can mark the executables as a false positive. You should also report these as false positives to Norton as well.

windows makefile for 64bit build needs an additional PLATFORM line to work

  • Posted a comment on ticket #604 on Regina REXX Interpreter

The makefile.win32.vc and makefile.win64.vc are no longer supported. I should remove them from the distribution. makefile.win.vc expects the environment variable PLATFORM to be set to x86, x64 or arm64 before nmake -f makefile.win.vc is called.

Windows makefile seems to have a typo in mt.exe line to add manifest to dll

  • Posted a comment on ticket #603 on Regina REXX Interpreter

Yes it is a typo. Interesting that the regina.dll that you built does not load. Works fine on my Windows 10. What version of Windows are you running Regina on? There have been over 100 downloads of the 64bit Windows installer since release and no-one has reported an issue with regina.dll not being loaded.
