Will the current release of DocFetcher work with PDFBox 2.x and is there a list of other software used by DocFetcher to access the content of files (so that the software can be updated)? Thanks.

I encrypt my data drive on Windows 10 and I want the index to be stored on the encrypted drive, which I manually mount after starting the main system. Is this possible? Also, where are the indexes stored by default on Windows 10, please? Many thanks.

I have a reasonably large number of drives some of which contain hundreds of thousands of files. What is the effective limitation on the number of records that VVV and Firebird can handle? Many thanks.

I've seen in another post that recording of the free space is on the "to do" list . May I request that the information includes not only the free space but also the drive capacity (as formatted)? I would also find it very useful to have the system automatically record the file system (eg. NTFS, exFAT, FAT32, FAT, ext3, ext4, HFS, HFS+ etc. etc.) and a manually completed hierarchical record of location (e.g. Fire safe 2 --> Shelf 1 --> Box3). Many thanks for a piece of software that I have only just...

I've just started using the software and was getting the error message above on many files, but have updated using the later version of PDFBox per the posts above. That got rid of some errors, but: I'm still getting multiple "Error: End-of-File, expected line" on thousands of pdf files. I also seem to get a large number of "error in opening zip file" messages when opening .xlsx and .docx files. I've checked and they open okay with Excel or Word. Multiple "Zip bomb detected!" when attempting to index...

I've experienced a weird issue. I tried to save two e-mails as templates. They took much longer to save than normal. When I tried to open the templates I was prompted for my passphrase even though I had not chosen to save them encrypted nor signed (and I had the confirmation in red that they would be unsigned and unencrypted). I've repeated the situation a number of times and it has happened each time. I have had to disable Enigmail to re-gain the required non-encrypted and non-signed templates....

Do you mean on delivery or throughout transmission? The biggest risk re data protection is in transmission unless you allow access to your physical machine. The sender has to encrypt the e-mails they send - you can't do that for them. If you want to ensure security where you store your e-mails locally, then consider encrypting the whole disk on which you store them. If you keep your e-mails on a remote server, then use a service that offers secure encrypted storage that only you can decrypt. For...
