    I can confirm that I have the same problem, and that starting with the "-nosound" option lets the program run. Unfortunately, the prefernces option is greyed out. I have looked for a file or resouce that I can edit, but haven't located anything. Is there a way to make this change that will allow to program to start with this option from the normal icon (My wife isn't interested inlearning to use the terminal!)? TIA
