Sounds more like a problem with the SSD and not with VeraCrypt. If you think it is a VeraCrypt problem, make a byte-by-byte copy of your SSD (to have it backed-up) to another (exact the same model) SSD and try to work with that one.
I know that the iterations can be entered in the settings, but wouldn't it be more secure to enter the iteration value every time when one wants to open a keepass-database (like in VeraCrypt). And for those who don't want to enter the iteration-value each time just use a default value.
