Addendum: Denise features a separate UI for generating empty files—such as disk, tape images, as well as Flash or EEPROM for GMOD2 or battery-backed SRAM for the ChessCard. The idea of identifying the affected programs via their checksums and then pre-selecting the correct memory configuration had already been considered. However, that is a tedious process requiring a fair amount of follow-up work. Besides, I never actually took the trouble to list the affected programs; over time, there have been at least twenty of them. It would be better if all these programs could be narrowed down to just two or three memory configurations—for instance, selecting one for the C64...

As with the other speeders, compatibility is mediocre; for instance, Zak McKraken repeatedly asks for the next disk. The speeder can be disabled using @D0 , though Zak still won't load even then. (boot disk never prompts for the next disk.) This is something that should be verified using original speeder hardware; there might be a bug in Denise regarding how the speeder is hidden. hint: insert...
