This is now fixed on the website - for website security, changed scripts (like make-website) have to be manually copied to the trusted-scripts directory. I did that this afternoon when I asw that the help-us page was still wrong, and it's now right.

Patch testing also includes make doc and make test (checking for changes in regtests) so bypassing this stage is not recommended.

It appears that the documentation is autogenerated from a definition in define-grob-properties.scm: (length ,ly:dimension? "User override for the stem length of unbeamed stems.") so it's more likely a bug in the implementation. Might cause things to break if it were changed, though.

I've checked with Gould, and she only gives examples up to 4 beams. The problem is that her rule is that, in descending notes, the top beam hangs from the staff line and the next one straddles it (it's centred). Three beams go hang, straddle, sit. It's then impossible to follow this rule for 4 beams unless the spacing of the beam is widened.
