USM98/99 is a different version from USM98, but I'm not sure what the differences are since I've only played the former. I do have both on my machine, the USM98/99 executable is USM98-99.exe, 1,534,464 bytes, MD5 hash 0339A60F6D0BCD5CE825A9D77576CE80, and the USM2 executable is USM2.exe, 1,540,608 bytes, MD5 hash 293EEA861EED03897F291506FC4F334A, so they're definitely not the same The GDI renderer doesn't work at all for me no matter what I try. Hello friends! I've been tinkering around with USM '98/'99 for a few days now because the included profile didn't do the trick for me. I've attached what I've come up with, which works fine aside from a very subtle shimmering around objects that are updated, and a lack of sound which I wasn't going to use anyway. The only real problem is that while it works fine on the first launch, on subsequent launches it often just starts up stuck on black screen. This is fixed by shuffling between menu tabs...
