I asked robin for more detail, he said it's not that Ardour opposes it, or prevents it, it's just that it won't work in some cases, and they don't want to deal with those cases (because it's not their problem - fair enough). I will try to upgrade my OS to 19.10 at some point, and try again then. But I guess the rest of KX-studio will break then...

Yeah, it appears to just work in jalv. Unrelated sidenote: the UI is tiny on my 2560x1440 screen - combined with the low-contrast UI, and it will be hard to use. Is there a way to scale it?

I tried your instructions, and it seemed to install correctly, and I could open the ardour session that I created with drumkv1 0.9.2. Find only found the one version. I purged drumkv1-common and drumkv1-lv2 and reinstalled, and still have the same problem. I haven't tried compiling from source on this computer.
