I haven't logged in here in years but I wanted to do so just to congratulate you Mounir on your move, and to thank you for your dedication and continued support for this project.
@idrassi we're all happy to hear from you and that the project is alive.
Number 3 for sure, and I suspect for a lot of us.
In that case here's what he'd do: "Hey guys, the update posted on dd/mm/yyyy will be good for at least the next 2-3 years with absolutely minimal to null contribution or communication from the dev team. Software is solid and no issues are anticipated with continuous evolution of Mac/Win/Linux systems." That's how you do it. To sit here and pretend that this "never ending desire for updates" is wrong on MY end is absurd. I don't have a never ending desire for updates. I have an aversion to abandoned...
I suppose it's too much to ask for the main person involved in VeraCrypt to just say "yay" or "nay" when it comes to their continued involvement, so the rest of us can adjust accordingly.
All we're really asking to see from Mounir is an indication if this project is viable and supported long term. We want to see a vision of the future. If it is not supported, I will sure as hell understand why. He has done an incredible job and it doesn't come easy or for free. However the point stands that we should get a realistic picture of the status of the project. I can live with the answer, whatever that may be.
I love the discussion above. One thing I heard no one mention is the root as to WHY people may not be interested in encryption. It's because people are becoming lazy spectators so they're not PRODUCING ANYTHING WORTH PROTECTING. They are watching and consuming. Consumers don't need encryption. People who produce valuable things do. Having said that: there will ALWAYS be the producers of the world that need encryption. I've used TC for YEARS before they went under and I know the history well, and...
The lack of transparent updates on the software is concerning. I'm considering no longer using it. Same thing happened to TC back in the day. There were no updates for ages. Then I went on their forum and said if they don't intend on keeping it updated they should close it down. And that ended up happening anyway, of course not due to my comment, it was just a coincidence. So what's the case here?
