The answer is really simple: do not transfer, recreate. Make sure you copy your documents to the new machine and install DocFetcher. Reproduce the same DocFetcher indexes as the other machine: case closed.
Indeed, you are right to point it out. I would not have committed such a huge imprudence, I forgot to mention it. A small question though, should we also close the daemon? I don't think so because your software is well separated, but I just want to be absolutely certain. So, you indirectly confirm that the XML copying procedure will work without problems, even if I force the internal numbering of the index folder to 13 digits? Also, what about the tree.xml files that I don't understand very well?...
Hello I'm looking for a way to save my index definitions in order to mirror this configuration on another computer (my pro intervention laptop, or my travel laptop). This could also be useful if I change my desktop computer. Finding nothing else in the menus than a limited “save”, “export” and “import” "settings", I went to look at the xml files in "AppData\Local\DocFetcher Pro\1.0\" where I found: ..\conf\custom-types.xml ..\conf\preferences.xml ..\conf\window-states.xml ..\conf\index\default.xml...
Thank you for your patience. In fact I did all correctly, but I was just reopening DocFetcher and watching the current sort. Today I just tried to search a thing, and bingo, it works. Problem solved.
Thanks for the reply. I can confirm your first comment: it's linked to "rebuild index". No emergency at all, not a real trouble. Second point: the “InitialSorting= n” variable doesn't change anything, it's always the “Score” column that's sorted. I've tried all kinds of values. I've tried to reset the <column id=”result-table“ value=”0;1;2;3;4;5;6;7“ /> line in preferences.xml. Too bad, it would have worked perfectly for me.

Hello, I'm coming to you with two minor points about DocFetcher Pro. I use version 1.18 on a daily basis, and it is extremely practical, stable and functional. My first comment concerns Search Scope. We used to have problems in older version with the checkboxes "moving all by themselves", which you've stabilized in this version, but there are still a few occasions when my choices change without my wanting them to. My second request is for a minor interface improvement: I'd like DocFetcher to remember...
All is clear thanks. I will have a plenty of occasions to use the indexes. I had some reflexions about the ancient version, but seeing the internal job you did, I'm quite sure they dissapeared during the good job you depicted, and that I clearly recognised in this version. Cordialement, Mathieu Trentesaux
