If you don't want to disable "smooth edges of screen fonts" (which affects ALL the programs on the computer), you might want to check out the program "MacType" (freeware) that allows you to render the fonts on specific programs differently. To add my 2-cents worth - I can confirm the same problem using version 1.7 of OpenSong (we use a companion search application that only currently works with 1.7 hence the back version).
