I couldn't get this work correctly on the verion i finally got installed with the .deb pacakge. It's the latest version of Debian 11.1, and i think rcp was still relying on upstart, which i don't think they have in 11.1. I'm not actuallt sure, i just noticed that it was not running automatically on powerup or reboot. So l looked around a little bit, along with the other problem of those silly new fangled interface names, which i completely don't understand in a VM, and I know ho w to set those back,...

Actually i think i'm going to go ahead and close this ticket, i'm not sure i was running a 64-bit OS

Well, if you want to cheat and not have to develop you're own installer, VyOS, install image command. And i think VyOS is open source
