No worries. For context originally I created a temp account and tried exactly the same process and when I got to run the dpapimig.exe command it prompted for a password entered every password I could think of to no success. So the import couldn't be completed. So basically I followed Section I as normal. I followed Section II as normal as well. For Section III I booted up a spare domain joined laptop and logged in for the first time. I moved all the keys from the old WUA folder to the new WUA folder....

I moved all the keys from the old WUA folder to the new WUA folder. One thing to mention is that the folders had the same name when I copied them across and I also had two files that I overwrote. I don't think you need to overwrite files but I did. The SID of my account within the domain is shared which is why...

@Paul You are a godsend. I'd given up on it just tried it a different way I'm not too sure if I should leave a post on the main thread there however this worked for me. If the Windows User is a domain account, I logged onto the domain account on a different computer copied across those keys, then I imported the registry keys and for the values I set the computer name to the previous computers name and the username to DOMAIN\<username> and then I ran dpapimig.exe. Importantly this time I didn't get...

Good to know I'll keep that in the back pocket for future use though I simply won't use the Windows User Account and stick to password and private key. Thanks, Matt

I'll double check the process from yesterday make sure I didn't miss anything. I have my previous Windows User passwords written down from back til 2022 however the creation date of the files in the SID folder seems to be 2020 so my thought was it needs the password at the time of creation for those files. Thanks, Matt

For future forum readers that have the same circumstance as me. This did work up until the point when you run dpapimig.exe and the prompt to put the password comes up. I believe it needs to be the password at the time creation and unfortunately I can't remember that specific password. If i do end up recalling it and finish the import I'll come back and update the forum. So it was unsuccessful @wellread1 thanks for your help though.

Hi, Hoping someone here can help however from looking at the forums and other posts it seems like its a lost cause. Originally I setup my keepass about 6 years ago and when I did I linked it to the Windows User Account. Yesterday my laptop was stolen, I have backups of the database and the private key and basically a complete backup of the machine incld registry data. However because of the Windows User Account the database remains locked. From reading the other forum posts it doesn't seem to be...
