Great, thanks. I shall look at ctags.io. FYI, I'm using ctags to build a list of available functions in a GUI and need the return type. Also the same information is used to automatically populate a header file with function prototypes, and without the return type it breaks the code.

You might be right there. You make a persuasive argument. I did originally "fix" it in ttynvt by just replacing the check with master_suspend=0; which confirmed to me what was going on. I may look at forking ttynvt instead and changing how it works - see if I can get it to pass CTS through to the UART device. That's pretty much the configuration I ended up with, yes. I do have another problem with the setup, but I don't know if it's caused by ttynvt or ser2net yet. I haven't had a chance to test...
