Thanks. ( It turns out the tilde char does not come so often, so for now I'll stick with the "copy-paste from another editor" method, which is easier for me. )
Okay, I'm re-reading your last post. Seems to me a big hassle compared to what I want to achieve. Plus I will admit that I'm a little paranoid, and I don't feel like downloading dmg from anywhere out of the codeblocks.com domain, no offense. I'll be better off copy pasting the tilde from another editor, because I won't use it that often after all. My initial intent was just pointing out that it was not working right out of the box in my case: azerty (french) keyboard on mac OSX, which may or may...

Ok, I'll try that later. In the meantime, here is what I noticed: if the line is blank, then alt+n (the tilde char on mac azerty keyboard) doesn't do anything, however, if there are already some characters on the line, then a "code refactoring" dialog opens, see image (I tried tilde after the characters dd):

Hi, I just started learning c++ about 2 days ago, as a hobbyist (i.e. I typed cout << "Hello world" for the first time 2 days ago). Could you please explain how I can type ~ in the stc sample of wxWidgets? I googled wxWidgets, and apparently it's a cool library, but I'm not sure if I am going to use it before a looooong time (need to learn the c++ syntax first...,). Anyway, do I have to download something to test what you ask me to do? I've searched in the top menu of codeblocks and the closest thing...
