Hi Charlie, thank you very much for the reply, and for quickly fixing the problem! I tried the version under ...bin_perlmutter/ncclimo and the--exclude option worked for me. Being able to use this exclude option helps me debug another (original) problem I am having while creating a timeseries of global averages. I may report in another post if I can't resolve it myself. Best regards, Koichi

Dear NCO developers and community, I use ncclimo binary on Perlumtter avaiable on /global/homes/z/zender/bin_perlmutter. I am trying to create global average timeseries from monthly mean cam output using ncclimo. When I try the option to change the variable list into exclusion, I get the following error(s): $ ncclimo --exclude -p serial -v ABSORB --split -m cam --rgn_avg -s ${styr} -e ${edyr} -c ${icase} -i ${indir} -o ${outdir} ERROR: Unrecognized option --exclude_variables ERROR: Unrecognized option...

Hi Charlie, Thank you so much for suggestions. Adding --rgr no_stagger makes it worked! And the simulation starting from the remapped initial codition also runs fine, at least for one day. I remember the tool interpic and probably used it a couple of times several years ago. If the simulation gets unstable, I may try interpic. Thank you for reminding me of the tool. Best regards, Koichi

Thank you for the reply. I extracted US, VS, and T (TS is a soil temperature, so not very relevant here I guess), and tried to upload here as attachment to this comment, but not working... It's file size is still 41MB, may be too big to attach. I put it here on NERSC /global/cscratch1/sd/ksa/shared/cami_USVST.nc The itinial condition file I'm trying to regrid is actually on NERSC and accessible to anyone as well: /project/projectdirs/ccsm1/inputdata/atm/cam/inic/fv/cami-mam3_0000-01-01_0.9x1.25_L32_c141031.nc...

Dear Charlie, I'm having a confusing error from (trying to) regridding a staggered variable VS used by CAM-FV. I am regridding an initial condifion file the 0.9x1.25 grid to 0.23x0.31 grid because I don't find an IC file for the latter grid on 32 vertical levels (for CAM5.4 and later versions). To do this, I creared 3 mapping files: 1) 0.9x1.25 grid to 0.23x0.31 grid with unstaggered lat and lon 2) 0.9x1.25 grid with staggered latitude (i.e., horizontal coordinates are lon, slat) to 0.23x0.31 grid...

Hi Charlie, Indeed, thanks so much! So do you keep the NCO binary files in your home directory up to be the latest version? I'd like to direct my paths to your directory instead of using NERSC's NCO module (and I'm too lazy to install myself...)

Hi Charlie, I also want to have this feature (not searching in HPSS). I am using nco 4.7.4 on NERSC and see this behavior as default and I do not find a new option in the documentation (from the link above on 07-23). I'd like to avoid this feature because 1) this happens a lot while I'm testing a script due to typos in my script, or when one or two of input files do not exist due to a mistake in file handling, bug in the downloading code, etc, 2) I have never had a situation in which I did not have...
