Latest update is The team have replied that the issue's been replicated and the fix is being worked on for the next release (likely 16.1), unfortunately, we don't have a release date for this as-yet

UPDATE: ESET have confirmed that they can reproduce the issue. They have not been able to find a temporary workaround (e.g. excluding keepass somehow). It is being escalated to head office team.

Thanks @pail459 Yes, quite right, the bl!!!y obvious solution is the right one (and I've no idea why I was just looking beyond that)! I was too trusting of the fact I had disabled nod32 (and in fact the product in general!). Yes, uninstalling ESET NOD32 stopped the error, and reinstalling brought it back. I will file a bug report with ESET. If this thread is left open I will post resolution when I get it from ESET. For the time being, note that ESET NOD32 v16.0.22.0 causes the "An application has...

@pail459 - yup, tried that many times :-) @Horst - good point - it's Windows 10 21H2/19044.2130 ("sadly" my PC, whilst able to run latest games etc, isn't compatible with windows 11. I'm so upset ;-) ) Guys I've tried for hours today today (and a fair amount of time yesterday too) trying to isolate this - exiting every app, stopping any services I can think of that won't kill windows itself, uninstalling Nvidia drivers (again), disabling ESET NOD32 inc HIPS. Still I get the error. I've even captured...

Thanks for your response Paul. The only one I was aware of in recent days was ESET NOD32 updated to version 16.0.22.0 which required restart. But I've done "pause protection" and disabled "HIPS" (Host Intrusion Prevention System), so it is "turned off". The issue with keepass still occurs if "enter master password with secure desktop" option is enabled. I've checked windows updates, and there have been none for over a week and I've been using the pc everyday since then, and only got the problem yesterday....

Just started getting this error message today, after years of using keepass without issue on this pc. It appears in a dialog when attempting to enter master password with "secure desktop" option enabled. If I turn this option off, I don't get the error. I've closed all other apps both on taskbar, in system tray, and anything in task manager to do with user apps. I've even paused virus/malware protection (ESET NOD32) but the dialog still appears. I've tried running keepass "as administrator" just...
