I think what we are really talking about is a noise gate, and there are a couple of free ones I've found that are available as 64 bit VST plugins (GGate from GVST, and one that's part of a set from Bob Perry Audio). And I've been able to install them to Equalizer using the configuration editor, where I can display the gate plugin's interface. The problem is, I also use Peace APO, and when I open Peace after installing plugins to Equalizer, Peace tells me it has to overwrite the Equalizer configuration...
