Thank you RealTehreal. Problem solved. I believe the problem was caused by me having the volume mounted. I tried it on a 64bit Win11 laptop and got the impression that the error messaging was a bit better. After Dismounting the volume and then clicking "Select File" I was able to back up the volume without a hitch.

Hi, For the first time since changing over to Veracrypt from Truecrypt I decide to "Backup Volume Header...". Sadly a window pops up telling me The system cannot find the path specified. Source:BackupVolumeHeader:1081 Is this a bug or has the function been removed but remains in the "Tools" menu? Will there be a fix or is there a work around please? Hi, I'm running Veracrypt on Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I noticed that a new update was available. On the Downloads page one of the options that I have is to download the latest stable release Installer for Windows 8 and later. I decided to try it and it seems to have installed without any problems. I only use VC to encrypt containers. My question is am I still protected and have created something that will cause me problems in the future. Thank you.

As an added measure of security I would like to be able to change the order of the listed encryption methods. When starting Vercrypt at the password entry window, it is the list in the drop down menu "PKCS-5 PRF:" with "Autodetection" by default. Seeing as I am using the first method in the list I feel vulnerable. Anybody trying to crack the code could easily assume that everyone is using the first method.
