Yes, it looks as if the version I currently have (calling itself "EasyABC 1.3.7.9 2021-01-01 FAU-Test” from https://drive.google.com/u/0/uc?id=1mnXH6DD_PYFSrjyLvFpJ_m0ZA90qgmaG&export=download) works as I’d expect: $ uname Darwin $ od -tc Untitled.abc 0000000 F o o \n B a r \n B a z 0000013 Jon. BTW: I see some work on FluidSynth2 support over at https://github.com/jwdj/EasyABC https://github.com/jwdj/EasyABC -- do you have a way to bring those changes over to your fork and see if it helps the playback situation? I'd love to jump in and see if I could...

Don't understand why, it is the same version of the software. I did install the public beta of 10.15.4 Beta (19E224g) so it may be related to that... Just FYI, probably nothing to be done about it. There does seem to be a general...

You cant play them with the Quicktime app either (which may be on my system as a remnant, unsure if new installs have it at all). Yes, I think that's exactly what's happened. EasyABC uses the cross-platform 'WX Widgets' library to support things like audio playback across Windows,...

You can even, at least when using FluidSynth, play suitable tunes as rounds by starting multiple playbacks at suitable intervals :-). I agree it's not ideal. I still hope to be able to do...

Export as xml works fine - as does export as html ( so I can work around it easily enough ) Thanks for the report. I wasn’t aware of that so it’s one more thing to look into. Jon.

OK, I'm a bit out of ideas on this. I'll see if I can come up with something.

This seems to be the result of a problem in the GUI library used by EasyABC when it's run under Catalina. It's beyone my skill to fix but I've reported it to the GUI tool maintainers: https://github.com/wxWidgets/Phoenix/issues/1413 and we may have to wait until they can fix it. In the meantime one possible work around would be to use a alternative way of playing the music that uses FluidSynth and which does work on Windows. 'll look into this whan I have a chance.
