So cd based game is working in a decent sized window on my main display, able to play it. I did get it to run center screen using the DxWnd main panel settings, will try some of the resolution setting changes later. I may fiddle with the Goldberg Steam Emu as well, thanks for the tip, and for the suggestions on the DxWnd settings.

Definitely the steam version. I got a CD version, updated to 1.07, and runs in window. I used the export with gdi scaling. I don't know if there is a way to change the window size, or maximize the window with the program running larger, but when I maximize, it shows a window within window, with the central window showing correctly rendered graphics, but non-functional, and a messed up window in the top left, that you can select buttons, if you can tell where they are.

Hi, thanks for the response to 688i. I think the steam version just has some problems. I tried doing as suggested for the CD version, launched DxWnd as administrator, set properties on the executable to XP (tried sp2 and sp3), used the basic settings provided with DxWnd files. I actually tried all the other compatibility settings for the executable, as well as shutting down all monitors except one on my system, and doing a clean boot with startups disabled and all services except MS disabled, and...

If this is the wrong place to ask, sorry. I just thought I would let you know that the profiles for 688i Hunter Killer, steam version, does not appear to work on Windows 11 - either the executable crashes after brief start, or stall running in background. Game runs fine in full screen, although resetting everything to 800x600. Would love to run it in a scaled up window, but not having any luck with this.
