Thanks for the reply, Shell. Sorry to say, though, it's a bit over my head. I have been playing with it and here's how I resolved what I want to do: 1. I extracted the 7z files onto the flash drive (after uninstalling if from my Win10 laptop). 2. I opened 7z from there and created an archive called "MySafe.7z". 3. When I want to add a file, I move the unencrypted file to the flash drive and use "Add to Archive", specifying "MySafe.7z", and using the same password. (The 7z app seems to require access...
I have just starting using 7z, and my purpose is to have critical files on a USB drive that I would be able to access from any computer, even if 7z is not installed. Is the means to un-encrypt contained on the USB drive itself when I create an archive there? Thanks, - Jeff
